MCW is excited to announce its partnership with the Barbados Royals (“Royals”), a team owned by Royals Sports Group, for the 2022 Caribbean Premier League season (CPL).

The Barbados Royals, formerly the Barbados Tridents, are Barbados’ official cricket franchise team in the Caribbean Premier League. They are one of the six teams that were founded especially in 2013 for the tournament’s first season. Since 2013, when his buddy Ajmal Khan, the club’s chairman and CPL creator, introduced him to the sport, Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has owned shares in the squad.

They were eligible for the Champions League in the 2014 CPL. Despite only winning one of their four matches, they were eliminated from the tournament during the group round. The announcement that the team name would change from the Barbados Tridents to the Barbados Royals was made on July 30, 2021.

As a member of the Royals Sports Group, the Barbados Royals have won the Caribbean Premier League twice, in 2014 and 2019. The Barbados Royals will continue their CPL run in 2022 and have secured various sponsorships, including MCW Sports.
